The Reverend Stephen Trott read Theology at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge and has a Masters degree in Law from Cardiff University. He has been a member of the clergy of the Church of England since 1984. He is currently Rector of Pitsford with Boughton in Northamptonshire and Diocesan Ecumenical Officer.
He has wide knowledge and experience of serving as a charity trustee, having been a Church Commissioner (the UK's second largest charity with assets of £11bn) from 1997-2023. He was a member of the General Synod of the Church of England from 1995-2021. He is currently a trustee for Peterborough Diocesan Board of Finance, and a trustee and governor of Pitsford School, where he is Chaplain.
He became Deputy Lead Chaplain with Northamptonshire Police in 2017 and has been Lead Chaplain from 2019. He also serves as an Army Chaplain with the Army Cadet Force, and as Chaplain to the Defence Animal Training Regiment at Melton Mowbray, which trains military horses and dogs, and those who work with them. He is a trustee of the Royal Army Chaplains Museum at the Defence Academy at Shrivenham in Oxfordshire.
He has a particular interest in Law, including those aspects of criminal law which relate to policing, as well as constitutional law, governance, and human rights. He received training as a charity trustee while serving as a Church Commissioner.
He hopes to be able to contribute to PCUK's Board of Trustees his knowledge and experience as a Chaplain, of charity law and governance in large and small national and local charities, in a variety of contexts both religious and military.
