In relation to question 13 respondents were asked to outline how they have received
support for their faith within the police service. The main support was identified as
being that provided by the CPA (48% of all respondents, and 74% of those who
stated they had found support for their faith within the service). The CPA was
highlighted by one respondent as being exceptional within Devon & Cornwall
Constabulary, and this support extended to staff being able to attend meetings and
events during working hours. On the other hand it was stated that the CPA does not
cater for those who are not of Christian faith so its support is limited.
Other respondents identified that they had found informal support through colleagues
and supervisors. This support included being visited when suffering from ill health,
and receiving understanding with regard to their faith needs. Some respondents
identified that they had not received support for their faith as they had not actually
sought it.
