Wanted: A Treasurer With a Head for Figures and a Heart for Chaplaincy

Are you the kind of person who secretly enjoys reconciling a bank statement? Does the phrase “good governance” give you a warm glow? Would you like to use your skills to support a national charity that makes a real difference in the lives of police officers and staff?

If so, Police Chaplaincy UK is looking for a new Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. It’s a voluntary role—but before you imagine endless spreadsheets and late-night number crunching, let us reassure you…

Here’s what the role actually involves:
  • Just six meetings a year (mostly online, with decent coffee if in person).
  • A minimal day-to-day commitment—no daily bookkeeping, no payroll.
  • Helping us keep an eye on the big picture: budgets, reports, and making sure the numbers make sense.
  • You'll need to be comfortable with basic technology - we use Teams for meetings, FreeAgent for managing invoices and records, and you'll have your own PCUK email address.
  • Bringing financial wisdom into conversations, but not needing to be a financial wizard (though we’ll gladly welcome one if you are).
  • Supporting a small, passionate charity that brings care, presence and a listening ear into the heart of policing.

You don’t need to be a finance professional (though an understanding of finances is helpful).
What matters is that you’re a strategic thinker, a good communicator, and someone who’s happy to help ensure our resources are used wisely as we support chaplains across the UK.

The formal role description is attached, but if you’re someone who’d enjoy making a meaningful contribution—with limited time commitment but high impact—we’d love to hear from you.

Intrigued? Know someone who might be a perfect fit? Pop the kettle on and hit 'reply'—we’d be glad to chat.
